State health departments contend with constant change. For example, states must regularly respond to new federal mandates such as surprise billing and marketplace integration. Increasingly, there is an emphasis on whole-person health and value-based care, and as the global Covid-19 pandemic proved, to succeed, states need reliable and actionable data. Technology presents endless opportunities to provide solutions that improve health outcomes and lower cost; simultaneously it presents new challenges. How can states ensure they are ready to meet the next evolution of Medicaid management?
